General Information
What types of events are listed on this site?
We host a variety of public protection learning opportunities including in-person and online training sessions, activities, and workshops.
Who can attend these events?
Unless stated otherwise, all City of Edinburgh Council employees, CEC partner providers, NHS Lothian employees, Police Scotland, 3rd sector agencies and volunteers are welcome to attend relevant events. Some events may be restricted to specific departments or roles — check the event description for details.
Where are the events held?
Events can be in-person, remote (via Teams/Zoom), or hybrid. The location or meeting link will be provided on the event page.
Is there a calendar view of all upcoming events?
Yes, you can view all scheduled events using the calendar view or by navigating to the “Upcoming Events” section.
Registration & Booking
How do I register for an event?
Simply click the event you’re interested in and hit the “Book Event” button.
Do I need manager approval to attend?
Some training sessions or off-site activities may require managerial approval. Please refer to own organisations’ policy and procedure regarding managerial approval to book and attend learning events. A managers email address is required to book some events, so please check the event notes at the point of booking.
Can I register on behalf of someone else?
No — registrations are tied to individual profiles to track attendance accurately.
Can I cancel or change my booking after registering?
Yes. Just return to the event page and click “Cancel Booking.” For changes, you’ll need to cancel and rebook.
What happens if an event is full?
If an event reaches capacity, a waitlist will open automatically. You’ll be notified if a spot becomes available.
Reminders & Notifications
Will I get a confirmation email?
Yes, you’ll receive a confirmation email once you’ve registered. You’ll also get a reminder 24 hours before the event.
What if I don’t receive any emails?
Check your spam folder. If nothing’s there, contact us
Event Day Details
What should I bring to the event?
This varies — check the event details for any requirements (e.g., laptops, ID, etc.).
Is food or drink provided?
If catering is included, it will be mentioned on the event page. Some events provide tea/coffee.
What’s the dress code?
Unless specified, smart casual is usually fine. For external events, check the description.
Will the event be recorded or streamed?
If so, a link or recording will be shared after the event. Look for this info in the event description.
After the Event
Where can I access materials/slides afterwards?
Resources will be emailed to attendees or uploaded to the event page under “Event Resources.”
Will there be a feedback survey?
Yes — we love hearing from you. A short survey will be sent out after most events.
Can I get a certificate of attendance?
For training and CPD-related events, certificates may be available. Check with the organiser.

I get an error when trying to book — who can help?
Email learninganddevelopment@edinburgh.gov.uk with a screenshot or brief description of the issue.
Can I access this site on my phone?
Yes — the site is mobile-friendly and works on all modern browsers.

What data is collected during registration?
Only basic details like your name, email, and department. This is used solely for internal reporting and planning.
Who can see my bookings?
Only event organisers and system admins have access to attendee lists.
