USING TALKING MATS TO SEEK CHILDREN'S VIEWS

Target Audience

Social Workers, Early Years Workers, teaching staff, those working with children within child protection.

Aims and Outcomes

• Develop practitioners knowledge and understanding of Talking Mats.
• Provide the opportunities to put learning into practice and share with others.

Content

A two mornings course introducing the communication tool Talking Mats. Focus will be on looking at ways to use it within Child Protection.

The second morning involves practitioners sharing DVD footage of their practice in using a mat with a service user to the group.

Important note: As an accredited course, practitioners need to attend both mornings and show their DVD footage in order to be certified to go on and use the tool.

Further Information: Practitioners will be asked to return on session 2 with video footage of them using a mat with a service user. Without this they will not be accredited to use the tool by Talking Mats Ltd. Lots of support and guidance is offered regarding the filming element.
