SUPPORT CHILDREN UNDERSTANDING DIFFICULT LIFE LESSONS

Target Audience:

Staff supporting children within child protection including social workers, early years staff and education staff.

Aims and Outcome:

  • Develop an understanding of Words and Pictures.
  • Think about the practical uses of the tool in everyday work with children.
  • Journal articles and practical examples of the tool’s uses will be provided as part of the course.

Content:

  • Introduce Words and Pictures as a way of supporting children to understand about difficult life events and why decisions are being made about their lives.
  • Practitioners familiarise themselves with the tool and through the use of case studies think about how to make use of it in their work with children and families.
